Year 6 step up to help!

14th September 2019
This year we are going to have a number of different types of mentor in school. Our blue badge mentors have the responsibility of supporting pupils with their academic work, working with younger pupils and encouraging their peers. Our yellow badge mentors are selected from years 1 - 5 and support their peers by being a fantastic role model and by helping their teacher with special jobs. Our green badge mentors come from Year 6 and it's there job to not only be an excellent role model to their peers, but also to support children across the school.

Our Year 6 class received their badges this week, and discussed how they could help to make the school a great place to be. This ranged from setting a great example, to ensuring that everyone who needs help receives it. Some pupils wanted to combine their sports crew roles and support classes in PE, whilst others said they could help teachers and just be excellent ambassadors for the school when visitors come to see us.

All green badge mentors will be working on their conflict resolution skills and will also be learning all about peer mediation over the next few weeks to help them be the best mentors they can be.
