Reception Round Up

13th September 2019
Autumn Term Week 2

Welcome to our weekly review of what we have been up to in Reception Class this week.
The children have all settled in to the class and are getting used to their new surroundings and resources. A big welcome to the newest members of our class and our school. We hope you will have a great time in Reception.
In P.E. this week we have been moving like animals using all parts of our body. Of course the spider walking and snake sliding were very popular! We have been also focusing on our use of 'good toes' and learning to jump off the beam using our 'jet plane' arms.
In Maths we have been looking at Number Block 3 and how she is made. We also made our own number block 3 using cubes and friends to match the cubes together.
During outdoor time we managed to find some dead sunflowers in the allotment and in the year 1 garden. I think Mrs McKinnell and Mrs Walsh got a shock to see 13 children looking for sunflowers! Using great cutting skills and team work we dead headed several sunflowers and took them back to Early Years. We then found the seeds and pulled them out. That was a bit tricky but everyone showed great effort and managed to extract lots of seeds or '500' as someone said. The seeds are now drying out and then will be used again to replant some more lovely flowers and to create bird feeders.
See you again soon for another round up.
