Mental Health Week 2025

Published: 3 Feb '25

To mark Children's Mental Health Week, we have created a special episode of our Friday Morning Takeover podcast. Click the link below to listen to our mental health special.

Pupils in school marked the start of Children's Mental Health Week 2025 with a range of activities designed to raise awareness and give practical support to improving and maintaining mental health.

The day started with an assembly with Mrs Longhurst where looked at the theme of Mental Health Week this year, and met the characters from Inside Out who were going to help us explore how we feel.

Once we had explored the different emotions we all feel, and how they can become "large" when faced with a range of situations, the classes were involved in a carousel of activities across the afternoon to look at how we can look after our body and mind to improve our mental health.

Moving between a workshop looking at healthy food choices and how they can impact your mind, to a mindfullness workshop, the childrne completed their day with a workout in the hall to release some endorphins.

Working on our mental health isn't just something we do as a one-off during special weeks, but an ongoing challenge that we address through activities as diverse as daily class breakfasts and Jigsaw lessons. One thing that came out loud and clear today is that it's okay to have a range of emotions and feelings, and the best way we can support each other is through talking to each other and listening - something we will continue to do across the week.

There will be a special edition of the Friday Morning Takeover this week looking specifically at Mental Health week, including interviews with pupils and staff, so look out for that on Friday morning.
