Quite a busy week at School…

Well, we have all had quite a busy week at school this week with the not unexpected arrival of visitors from Ofsted. The school was inspected Wednesday and Thursday last week, and as you know due to that fact, the Shine concerts were moved to the following Wednesday, so we have that still to look forward to. We also have now added two additional shows to cope with the demand for tickets, so we will also be having one additional infant and one additional  junior concert on Thursday. Parents who didn’t receive their two tickets for Wednesday will get first chance at the new tickets, but hopefully there will be lots of opportunities for other parents and family members to join us too – further details will follow from school on Monday 26th June.

As well as Ofsted, which I am not allowed to say too much about until the report is published in about two to three weeks, we had a sporty week at school. As well as the visit of a Commonwealth Games winning pole vaulter who put the pupils through their paces in a series of sporting challenges, we also had teams out at the Quad Kids finals, and also the Key Steps Gymnastics competition. We have a strong history in gymnastics competitions, with our festival displays being very well received, but this competition is slightly different as it is exactly that – a competition. Entering teams in three categories against schools from across Gateshead, we returned with gold from one of the categories, and a a silver in the other. All of our teams performed brilliantly, and as ever, represented the school incredibly well – congratulations to all who took part.

It was a week of golds in school as every member of our school were awarded a gold award on Friday for the way they have conducted themselves across this week. Every member of staff is justifiably proud of the pupils and the way they represented their school.

Next week promises to be a great week in school. We have Nursery Sports Day – always a great event, four shine concerts, and absolutely, categorically, no Ofsted inspectors – and it doesn’t get much better than that.

This year has seen our two new classrooms completed, giving us a fantastic new home for years 5 and 6. The new buildings are proving very popular with staff and pupils alike, with lots of room for both classes, plus an extra room for times when a little more space is required. With wifi, air conditioning and brand new resources, the two oldest classes in the school have everything they need to achieve highly.

We have just had our official opening of these fantastic new classrooms – click here to read the blog.
