Last weekend children from years 4, 5 and 6 attended Robin Wood at Alston. What a fantastic weekend it was! As soon as we left school on Friday everyone, staff included, was in high spirits at the thought of the activities ahead (maybe not being in school for the day had a small part to play in the excitement as well)!
Upon our arrival in Alston the children split up into their groups (Avalanche and Stream) and embarked on the infamous Moorland Challenge. after walking for approximately 3 miles, although if you ask the boys they may add a zero to that figure, we eventually reached our home for the weekend. From that moment on it was go, go, go! With not a minute to spare the groups carried out a range of activities including:
- the giant swing
- zip wire
- piranha pool
- night line
- crate challenge
- stream work
- archery and
In stream group a bunch of veteran Robin Wooders led by example as they guided and encouraged the year 4s through the activities. Whilst the Avalanche group laughed, screamed and strangely enough danced their way through some nail biting moments. Ihsan also celebrated his birthday during the weekend- what better way to celebrate than swinging from trees and dodging piranhas with some of your best friends!
All of the children behaved impeccably and represented the school incredibly well at all times! What an absolutely fantastic weekend and a great way to end the school year!
